Health Benefits of Water

There are many health benefits of water in the workplace and at home that can make a big difference in your overall health.  Water is a crucial element in our bodies; in fact, the average person’s body is made up of around 60% water.  Not having enough water can lead to dehydration, which even in its most mild form can lead to serious and even potentially fatal health problems.  Symptoms of not getting enough water can include fatigue, headache, muscle weakness and even vomiting or fever.  Reviewing the health benefits of water should inspire you to drink more water each day, as it can make a big difference in your life over time.

How much water should you drink?

There are several factors that influence your water needs, so you may need to modify how much you are drinking based on a few different factors.  The amount that you exercise certainly influences how much water you should drink, as any activity that makes you sweat requires you to make up for the fluid lost.  The heat in your environment and your general physical condition will also dictate how much water you should drink, as you may need to increase your fluids when the weather is especially warm or if you have lost fluids due to a fever or stomach troubles.  Staying hydrated no matter what your situation is the best way to stay healthy no matter what you are doing.


What are the best sources of water?

Outside of just drinking water, there are many other ways to find sources of water in your foods and other beverages.  Many fruits and vegetables contain a great deal of water, making them a great choice for those who want to increase their water intake.  Keep in mind that there are foods that can actually dehydrate you, including alcohol, coffee, tea and soda, so be sure that you aren’t actually doing yourself more harm by over-indulging in these types of beverages.  Fruit juices, herbal tea and sports drinks are the best options for increasing your fluid levels fast, and of course, consuming clean, healthy water is the easiest way to get the most out of the health benefits of water.
