A new coffee and sandwich shop is coming to downtown Dayton in the next few weeks.

Cape Verde Cafe will take the 1,500-square-foot space previously occupied by Ohio Coffee Co., at the intersection of Ludlow Street and Fifth Street.

Raymond Frye Jr., president of RCF Properties Inc., is in charge of leasing the building. Frye said the new shop will probably open in the next few weeks.

A sign on the door says the store will specialize in coffees, Italian Ice, pastries and deli sandwiches.

Frye said the tenant is building a stage to host entertainment, but is not doing any other major renovations.

The sign also says the stage will be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., and will feature live jazz from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The restaurant will be closed on Sundays.

Ohio Coffee Co. relocated to the lobby of the Fifth Third center (1 South Main St.) at the end of November.
